STYLELIKEU X Kenneth Cole X Marie Claire

I received an invitation from bewitching mother/daughter duo Elisa Goodkind and Lily Mandelbaum of StyleLikeU (one of my favoritest websites) to attend the launch of Kenneth Cole’s new luxury collection at the Aventura Mall in Miami. That was a long sentence: I am the run-on queen, have you noticed? The event was co-hosted by Marie Claire Magazine, and Elisa and Lily were even in attendance to help shoppers with ideas on how to incorporate these pieces into their personal style and closet.

So, let’s talk about what I wore. I had 2 purple baby-barrettes facing each other on one side of my head and a poorly constructed braid on the other. I didn’t blow-dry my hair, I let it hang in all its disheveled glory and put a pinch of Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray in as it dried. Next, I slipped on an awesomely-colored plaid blouse from the vintage store 10 Foot Single By Stella Dallas in Brooklyn (and I tied it at the bottom). On the bottom, I wore a polka dot skirt with black tights that look like corsets in the back. I topped it off with my favorite denim jacket (my constant accessory) and my mom’s shoes from the 80′s. I wore a Topshop bunting necklace that has the British flag and various patterns on each of the triangles, a chunky crystal necklace I got in 2007 at the Melrose Trading Post fleamarket in Los Angeles, a hedgehog ring, a Victorian wallpaper-lookin’ ring I picked up in SoHo and a gold-spiked friendship bracelet my best friend made for me. On my lips I wore Cabaret lipstick by MAC coupled with my new favorite lipgloss, Funtabulous Dazzleglass; which is purple with a violet pearl tint in the light (also by MAC). Done and done!

Ordinarily, Kenneth Cole is a bit “posh” for my own personal aesthetic, but I did find some things that were up my alley, which was cool because it isn’t a place I normally shop. The sunglasses, for example, were tres sexy and a lot of the black pieces had lovely tailoring and quality fabrics. This drape top reminds me of Haider Ackermann which is always a good thing ;) Next to the charming image of me being a nerd in the mirror is a pic of Lily Mandelbaum and Elisa Goodkind. I wonder how boys act around the both of them… LUMINOUS FOXES! I enjoyed talking to them and hearing about their adventures so!
