Weekly Recap

The other day I happened upon The Brooklyn Art Library: This incredible marvel is home to 18,000 artists’ books contributed by creative people from 130+ countries. At the physical space, you can sign up for an actual library card (free of charge!) that allows you to check out publications and notifies artists when their work is being viewed. The sketchbooks are individually catalogued and barcoded, so the database is searchable by artist name, location and theme. The Art House community encourages guests to interact with one another on a face-to-face level while introducing members’ work to the local Brooklyn audience. In addition, the books are offered digitally on the website so nobody is left out! The library also hosts readings, discussions, workshops and performances throughout the year and travels as a community-oriented exhibition. Basically, this is my dream come true.
